Quality of the product is good, not cheaply made, but the customer service stinks. I made a simply inquiry regarding the product ona feature I thought may be wrong or needdd another part, a simple question but got NO RESPONSE at all. After some use I determined the best way to use the device and that it was probably made that way. The issue is the attachment of my universal case holder to the arm of the device leaves the device swinging if you touch it wrong (counter-clockwise) then the device is loose and wobbly, turn it 360 degrees clockwise and it firms up again. Not something I want to be doing while handling other cockpit issues; besides if your iPad is plugged into a charger you have to unplug it or you’re charging cord is caught up in the correction turn. Again not a big deal but not something I want to do and add more to the already high cockpit demands. The arm itself mounts easily is quality made, sticks firmly in position and fits nicely in the only spot on mypanel. The arm to universal holder, which I have (although I suspect the holder mechanism for all the other types of holders is the same) needs rework, an additional tightening knob to make that final attach point as quality as the rest of the arm. Nice product but needs some additional work. And a minus 10 on custom service. I expect as least a courtesy email response if nothing more than “to bad, so sad, we can’t help you”. For the price of the product I expect a little more effort from customer service, and a better final attachment point, Knowing what I do now I would not buy again; if for no other reason than zero customer service.
Update:
My initial review was not favorable, however turns out that the problem was the universal holder threaded post lacking thread lock, which I was told should have been present. I applied thread lock on the threads let it dry and the “wobbly issue was solved. Now the holder is rigid as it should be. The bolted arm fits nicely on my panel (in the only available 2” space) and performs as expected now that the thread lock issue is resolved. The absence of the thread lock on the unit sent to me was a QC failure and caused an unnecessary expenditure of time. Shouldn’t have occurred. The next issue , which was ultimately resolved, was I sent an email to the company about my dissatisfaction with the wobbly mount, waited for several days with no response. Then I filed my less than stellar review. I thereafter received a phone call from customer service, a very nice fellow and he took the time to hear me out made several suggestions as to the probable cause. One of which WAS the problem, problem solved. Now this review rating— the device is quality, well made and durable. I recommend it, at least it works just as I hoped in my airplane. However the failure of QC on the threads, and the failure to respond to my email inquiry until I filed a negative review is disappointing; that being said after that review I did receive the necessary assistance with graciousness. The devices, the two together, deserve 5 stars, the QC coupled with the failure to respond to my initial inquiry resulted in an overall diminishment of the rating to 4 stars; like most of these rating systems you can’t rate separate issues but just one overall rating. My review: Buy the product based on its quality, notwithstanding the high price.
